Background
Derek started TWolves Blog in 2006 to cover his favorite basketball team. Two years later he partnered with three other NBA blogs to form Bloguin, which grew to over 200 team and league sites. Under Derek, Bloguin acquired Awful Announcing in 2011 and launched The Sports Daily in 2015. He still writes Timberwolves coverage himself at TWolves Blog.
His role at Swipe Sports
Swipe Sports is produced using the publishing system Derek designed, Floe. He sets the site's editorial standards and built the verification process every article goes through before it publishes: claims are checked against primary sources, statistics against official league data, and every piece of reporting is credited and linked to the outlet that broke it.
He checks published coverage, reviews the Swipe Sports Encyclopedia (122 entries), and handles corrections. Errors, corrections and editorial questions go to him at hello@swipesports.com.
