The Jets really only have one young superstar on their roster, as the jury is still out on quarterback Sam Darnold, and that particular player appears to have already decided he wants to play elsewhere.
Superstar safety Jamal Adams was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 draft, and he continues to improve with each passing season. And while he still has two years remaining on his current deal, Adams has made it clear he wants a long-term contract extension.
The Jets, however, appear to feel otherwise, as the team has made no indications that he’ll be receiving one anytime soon. And this does make sense, as the Jets really have all the leverage here, given that Adams is still playing out his rookie contract, and has plenty of time left on it.
That hasn’t gone over well with Adams, who has indicated he wants to be traded out of New York. It’s still unclear what impact that’s had on his teammates, so that’s why many were interested to hear what Le’Veon Bell had to say about the issue, during a recent appearance on HOT 97.
“Me, personally, I hope he doesn’t get traded,” Bell said. “But I don’t think he’ll get traded. I do think he’ll be playing with the Jets. That’s just me, personally, because I don’t think he’s going to get traded. Honestly, why would you trade him? I wouldn’t trade him.”
An informative take right there.
