Minkah Fitzpatrick reveals he had argument with Brian Flores, resulting in trade request

Brian Flores, like all the coaches that come from the Bill Belichick tree, is a no-nonsense guy, and it appears that’s why it didn’t work out with former safety Minkah FItzpatrick.

The Dolphins had high hopes for Fitzpatrick when they selected him early in the first round of the 2018 draft. And while he’s developed into the All-Pro, generational player they had hoped he’d become, he’s done so wearing a Steelers jersey, not theirs.

Fitzpatrick never seemed happy playing for the Dolphins, and especially not when Flores took over as head coach. And seeing is believing, in this case, apparently, as he recently revealed that he got into a major argument with Flores, leading to his request to be traded (which resulted in him getting shipped to Pittsburgh). He shared the details with Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report.

“We had a difference of opinion in my skill set and what he thought I could do and what I thought I could do,” Fitzpatrick said. “It was going to get tough for me to show something to somebody they were choosing not to see. They didn’t give me the opportunity to show it, even though I had film that showed it. The losing and all that stuff? If I was put in the right position and we’re losing — because of decisions people made upstairs — it is what it is. I can only control how I play. That didn’t affect me at all. It was just a fact that I was being used the wrong way.”

Fitzpatrick essentially forced his way out of Miami, and now we know why.
