Allen Robinson scrubs Bears mentions on social media, requests trade

The Bears named wide receiver Allen Robinson as a captain for Sunday’s Week 1 game against the Lions, and yet, 24 hours later, he apparently already wants out of Chicago.

Unfortunately for Robinson, he’s never really enjoyed the benefit of catching passes from a capable starting quarterback. He was on the receiving end of passes from Blake Bortles, and most recently, Mitchell Trubisky. Both were top-five draft picks, and it’s sure looking like the two will both turn out to be major busts, considering what was expected of them.

And while Robinson did catch five passes for 74 yards (on nine targets), he’s apparently unhappy with the Bears organization over his contract negotiations. Robinson scrubbed all mentions of the Bears on Instagram, and, according to a report from Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, he even asked the team to trade him.

Robinson is currently playing out the final year of his contract, and will make $10.9 million this season. Apparently, that’s not enough for him.
