It’s known that Le’Veon Bell can sometimes check out and struggle with his work ethic, and that may be exactly what’s been talking place at training camp.
Bell has had issues with head coach Adam Gase, most recently over being held out of practice over what was said to be a hamstring injury. The Jets running back, however, vehemently denied being injured.
We spoke about how this dissension between Bell and the Jets coaching staff could have an effect on his performance going forward, and apparently, it already is. Brian Costello of the New York Post reported Bell has “not had an impressive training camp” so far, and this is troubling, given how sluggish he looked last season.
Bell disappointed both fans and fantasy football players last season, rushing for a disappointing 3.2 yards per carry, and lacking the burst that once made him so difficult to contain. And sure, it wasn’t all his fault, as the Jets fielded one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.
This situation has been continuing to devolve, and we won’t be surprised if Bell is traded this season. It doesn’t appear he wants to be playing for this coaching staff, and given Gase’s history with players, it’s not all that surprising. This marriage was always doomed to fail.
