It’s been over a year since Pau Gasol played in the NBA, but he wants back in the league, if the opportunity to create some brotherly love on one of his former teams arises.
Gasol last played for the Bucks, but was released in November 2019, and has been out of the NBA since. It’s unclear exactly what he’s been doing since that time, in terms of workouts, or if he’s even in game shape.
But now that his brother, Marc, has signed with the Lakers, he wants to return to Los Angeles, where he won two titles, playing alongside Kobe Bryant.
“There is meaning and history there,” Gasol told ESPN’s Zach Lowe. “I’m not going to lie. It would be very special, and now that my brother [Marc] is there, even more special. But I’m not in a position now to be very demanding. I don’t have 10 offers on the table.”
At least he’s being honest, as the Lakers clearly know other teams aren’t banging on the door to sign the 40-year-old big man. One Gasol on their roster suits them fine, and it’s hard to see them having any interest in reuniting with the eldest brother.
