Former Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White poked the bear known as the New Orleans Saints, and it didn’t go well for him.
White, just like a number of others in the NFL world, assumed that the Falcons would go into New Orleans and emerge victorious, given that Taysom Hill was making his first-ever NFL start. But what White didn’t take into account is that Hill has a number of playmakers around him, and the Saints defense is the most underrated unit in the NFL.
The Falcons jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but it was all downhill from there, as the Saints rattled off 21 unanswered points to emerge victorious. Atlanta was completely stymied on offense in the game’s final two quarters, as Sean Payton coached circles around interim coach Raheem Morris.
Payton appeared to be in good spirits after the divisional win, so he decided to rub some salt in the Falcons’ wound. The Saints head coach retweeted White’s aforementioned tweet, and it’s safe to say the former receiver regrets posting it.
Old takes exposed.
