Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf may be one of the toughest covers in the NFL, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s among the smartest.
Metcalf has looked like the most dominant receiver in the league so far this season, burning opposing defensive backs on short, intermediate and deep routes. He’s a guy that can move the chains, but can also stretch the field vertically for touchdowns.
The latter is exactly what it appeared he was poised to do during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, when he got behind the defense and hauled in a deep pass in the second quarter. He casually trotted toward the end zone, though — allowing Cowboys defensive back Trevon Diggs to knock the ball out of his hands at the one-yard line, just before scoring.
That would-be touchdown resulted in a touchback, and Metcalf only has himself to blame.
