Andre Johnson explains reasoning behind infamous fight with Cortland Finnegan

One of the craziest fights to ever take place in an NFL game happened roughly a decade ago, and a participant in it recently explained how it came to fruition.

Former Texans receiver Andre Johnson and ex-Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan matched up against each other at least twice per season, as the two division rivals squared off on a regular basis. It didn’t take long for the world to notice that the two just clearly did not like one another, with plenty of trash talk, jawing and skirmishes breaking out on the field both during and after plays were over.

It all boiled over during one particular showdown on Nov. 28 in Houston, with Johnson unloading on Finnegan with a flurry on punches, which caused an epic fight to break out, causing them both to be thrown out of the game.

Johnson recently appeared on Brandon Marshall’s “I Am Athlete” podcast, and he spoke about what went down on the field that day.

“No, it was just that was like three years worth of stuff, man,” Johnson said. “It built up to that point, and it just happened.”

We can totally buy that, as the two were just like oil and water — they did not mix.
