Rip It Up Little Richard

ESPN replacing ‘Monday Night Football’ intro song with Little Richard tune

Are you ready for some football?

Well if you are, get ready to hear a different intro song for ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

The network confirmed a report Tuesday that Williams’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over For Monday Night Football” is being replaced by “Rip It Up.”

Listen below:

That song will feature his vocals atop a new instrumental track performed by the band Butcher Brown.

Sports Business Daily reported ESPN executives decided to go in a different direction this season because NFL stadiums, amid the coronavirus pandemic, will have few to no fans in the stands.

The site also reported that ESPN won’t use footage of Little Richard, who died this year at 87.

Little Richard’s song is a good choice as a replacement, but there are few songs as iconic as Hank Williams’ MNF song. Nothing can replace it.

Not sure this is what our country needs right now.
