Hornets announcer suspended indefinitely for tweeting racial slur

Hornets Announcer John Focke N Word

Always check twice before you hit send.

The Charlotte Hornets announced they suspended radio broadcaster John Focke indefinitely after he posted a tweet that included the N-word.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Focke was commenting on the Denver Nuggets’ 135-125 overtime win over the Utah Jazz on Monday when he wrote the N-word instead of Nuggets.

Focke issued a statement Monday to say he “made a horrific error while attempting to tweet about the Denver-Utah game.”

Autocorrect is not a valid excuse. If it popped up, it can only mean one thing, it’s a word he’s typed out before.

Focke was hired in 2019 to the be their radio play-by-play announcer.
