The Rams traded for cornerback Jalen Ramsey with the intent of signing him to a long-term contract extension, but that hasn’t happened yet, and now he’ll be playing out the final year of his rookie deal.
Jacksonville exercised the fifth-year option on Ramsey’s contract, and he’ll make roughly $13.7 million this season. But he plays on a defense that, aside from All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald, lacks proven talent all over the depth chart. Re-signing Ramsey will be extremely important for their future, especially given all the youth in their secondary.
And while Ramsey has gone out of his way to not make his contract situation a distraction, despite how often he’s been asked about it by reporters, he did drop a cryptic post on his Instagram story, writing “prices goin’ up.”
It looks like he won’t be offering a hometown discount anytime soon. But he’s one of the best at his position, and he believes in his abilities. And now he wants to cash in on them.
