That’s Sophie Cunningham, describing Angel Reese’s decision to repost a clip of her boyfriend dunking on her rumored ex, on the May 5 episode of her podcast, Show Me Something. Cunningham plays for the Indiana Fever, not a podcast network built around hot takes. She said what a lot of people had been thinking quietly for months, then said it with her own name attached to it.
The backstory here goes back further than one repost. Reese and Jalen Duren, the Detroit Pistons center, were rumored to be together through most of 2025, never confirmed, never denied, just persistent. By November, Reese and Wendell Carter Jr., the Orlando Magic big man, had gone public on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.
Carter Jr. wasn’t shy about it either: “That’s my girl, though. We locked in for sure.” That directness is part of what made her rollout with Wendell Carter Jr. feel less like gossip and more like an actual answer.

It cleared six million views before either team had finished that series.
That came right as Duren’s own contract standoff in Detroit was already generating headlines, and now he had to hear his name mocked in his own building too, over a relationship he wasn’t even publicly part of. Fans chanted “Angel Reese” at Carter Jr. during Game 7. The Pistons won the series anyway, clawing back from down 3-1, which means Duren got the last laugh on the scoreboard and nowhere else.
That’s the situation Cunningham stepped into on May 5, not as a stranger with a hot take, but as another WNBA player watching this play out in real time. Reese, traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream this spring, was already adjusting to a new team and a new city when the repost turned into a story about her ex. Complex Sports posted the podcast clip two days later, and the coverage cycle hasn’t slowed down since.

I’ve spent enough years watching how these things spiral to know the difference between a manufactured feud and a real one, and this stopped being manufactured the moment Reese hit repost in April. Everything since then, the chant, the podcast, the six million views, has just been the internet doing what it does with a story someone else keeps handing it fresh.
Reese didn’t get exposed by a stranger. She got out-argued by her own repost.
