Nationals grounds crew completely botches tarp roll-out, forces game to be suspended (Video)

The grounds crew for the Washington Nationals had one job on Sunday, and they failed at it in a big way, affecting players from both them and their opposition in the process.

Rain swept through the Washington D.C. Metro Area on Sunday, which often happens during baseball games. Gameday personnel and staffers involved with field conditions are in place to deal with it, though, and to make the most of an unfortunate situation.

But it’s fair to wonder where the Nationals grounds crew got their training, because when rain began pouring down during Sunday’s game against the Orioles, they did not do their job well when called upon. Instead, their attempt to roll out the tarp across the field at Nationals Park was an epic fail, as you can see below.

Their bungled tarp job resulted in the game being suspended, rather than possibly being delayed, which is an inconvenience for everyone involved. It’s not easy to reschedule games in a 60-game season.
