Look: LeBron James rookie card fetches record-setting $1.8B at auction

LeBron James has accomplished much during the course of his NBA career, since entering the league as an 18-year-old rookie, cementing himself as one of the greatest players the league has ever seen.

He’s won three titles, and has a great chance to earn another this summer, with the Lakers sitting in the No. 1 spot atop the Western Conference standings.

There are some that even believe he’s the greatest NBA player of all time. And while we still believe that honor goes to Michael Jordan, it’s clear that LBJ is one of the best.

And that’s part of why his memorabilia is worth so much money. In fact, a rare version of James’ rookie card just sold for a record-setting $1.8 billion at an auction on Saturday.

That piece of cardboard sold for 2-3 times as much money as most of us will earn in an entire lifetime.
