Tom Brady wasn’t voted into the Pro Bowl this year, but he really doesn’t seem to care all that much.
Brady, after all, has earned Pro Bowl honors 14 times during the course of his career. He’s also been named First Team All-Pro three times, and Second Team twice. And, most importantly, he’s viewed by many to be the greatest quarterback of all time, with more Super Bowl rings (six) than any other player of his position.
It’s highly unlikely that getting voted into the Pro Bowl was among Brady’s goals for this year, when he decided to leave New England in favor of Tampa Bay. And given what he recently said about missing the Pro Bowl this year, it sure looks like he has more pressing issues — like getting the Bucs offense on track in hopes of making a deep playoff run — on his mind.
“I think there’s a lot of people who end up being deserving of a really cool accolade like that,” Brady told reporters. “I’ve been very fortunate to be picked a bunch of times, and I think it’s really great for other guys to get picked, too. It’s hard sometimes to pick just a few guys. This year, there were a lot of great candidates at a lot of positions. I had a lot of teammates that I wish they would have made it.”
He continued:
“You’ve just got to keep trying to go out there and earn it, and I think ultimately for me, it’s about winning games. I think individual accolades have a certain place. The most important thing for me has always been winning football games. I wish we were 14-0 at this point; we’re not. We haven’t deserved it. We haven’t played to that level yet, but hopefully we can play at a much higher level this Saturday.”
Playing in the Pro Bowl apparently does not coincide with what The TB12 Method dictates anymore.
